For providers / Contracts and privacy

Provide your own provider imprint

Your provider imprint identifies the business behind your courses and explains how to contact it. courseplanner requires your own provider imprint. You manage it alongside privacy, course terms and withdrawal information.

Development preview: locally prepared help article, not yet released. General guidance for Germany, not individual legal advice.

Before you begin

You manage your provider and know your business’s legal identity and the offers you sell.

Why do you need your own imprint?

Commercial providers of digital services must keep their own provider details clearly identifiable, directly accessible and permanently available. On a platform, customers must still be able to identify the business supplying the service. courseplanner’s imprint identifies the platform operator; your own business details are also required.

This guide helps providers in Germany prepare their information. Required details depend on legal form and activity. The document field checks the format of your input, not its legal completeness.

Which details belong in it?

Use the actual legal identity and working contact channels. A brand name or post-office box alone is not complete provider identification. This overview is guidance; particular activities may require additional details.

DetailWhat to check
Name and addressFull personal or registered business name and a serviceable physical address. Legal entities also need their legal form and authorized representatives.
ContactAn email address and suitable details for prompt electronic contact and direct communication. Pre-contract information for online consumer contracts also includes a telephone number.
RegisterWhere registered: the relevant register and registration number.
Tax identifiersWhere held: VAT identification number or business identification number, as applicable. Do not substitute your personal tax identification number.
Activity-specific detailsWhere applicable: supervisory authority, professional chamber, statutory professional title, awarding state and accessible professional rules.
Further business detailsWhere relevant, liquidation details and other information duties applicable to your business.

How do you prepare the document?

Check your imprint against the legal details in your provider profile. Use readable text and clear contact details. Include only business details intended for publication, not participant data or internal documents.

If your business has particular professional, licensing or information duties, clarify the additional requirements before saving. Another business’s imprint will not automatically suit yours.

  1. Check the legal name, address and authority to represent the business.
  2. Add the applicable register, contact and other required details.
  3. Remove unfinished placeholders and check that customers can reach you through the listed channels.
  4. Obtain qualified advice on unclear legal requirements.

Add the imprint as text or PDF

Open “Contract and privacy” during setup or in provider settings. Choose text or PDF in the imprint section. The imprint is required and has no optional enable switch.

Text must contain 100–60,000 characters. A PDF must be no larger than 512 KiB, static and unencrypted, without active content or embedded attachments. Prefer selectable text and a readable structure. An external link alone does not replace the complete document.

You can use headings, bold, italics, underlining, bullet points, numbered lists and links. The character limit applies to visible text. Check formatting in “Preview text”; after saving, it is retained in the published text view.

Review the content, confirm publication and use the shared “Save” button. Selecting a document or ticking a checkbox alone publishes nothing. Unchanged saved documents can be retained; select an existing PDF again only to replace its file.

Where does your imprint appear?

The published version is available as a separate provider imprint in the Legal documents area on your provider’s Legal page, including without sign-in. Text appears directly on the page; a PDF is available to download. Published legal information can be publicly readable before your provider profile goes live.

The interface can appear in German, US English, French, Spanish or Italian. Your own document stays in its submitted language and is not translated automatically.

The shared overview links your individual Legal documents. Your imprint remains a separate entry; it is not another agreement customers have to accept. A link to your Legal documents also appears below the contact details in your provider overview and in the course view.

Keep details current and recover from errors

Review the imprint when the company name, address, representatives or contact details change. Changing an already agreed contracting party may require a separate support review; new imprint text does not replace that review.

Confirm publication again when changing a version. If saving fails, check the error and last published version. When a version conflict occurs, compare the current version with your draft before confirming again. Steps that have already saved successfully do not need to be repeated.

Help and final checks

courseplanner support can help with file formats, controls and technical errors through the contact link at the bottom of the page. Qualified legal advice is responsible for assessing your business’s legal requirements.

After a successful save, check the public display and that your contact details work. A technical success message does not establish compliance with every information duty.
